2023 Saco Community Garden Mentor Program
This new Program is designed to improve community, a renter’s sense of belonging at the
Community Garden and an individual renter’s success with their plot. The more each renter succeeds in what they want to accomplish the more the garden as a community succeeds.
1. Any renter at the Garden is invited to request a Garden Mentor at any time of the season.
2. A Garden Mentor is an experienced SCG renter who can meet in person at the garden to:
- Welcome and orient a new renter to the garden
- Answer questions about SCG Guidelines and routines
- Guide and train someone on volunteer/service tasks
- Help with general gardening tips
3. A Garden Mentor is NOT:
- Someone to do gardening or volunteering for another renter
4. To request a Garden Mentor contact the SCG at sacocommunitygarden@gmail.com.
5. To serve as a Garden Mentor contact the SCG at sacocommunitygarden@gmail.com.
The Steering Committee officers will appoint/approve a Garden Mentor.
Time spent serving as a Garden Mentor counts toward volunteer time.
